..I am woman - hear me roar
I am woman - hear me roar is a song sung by Helen Reddy and written
by Ray Burton and Helen Reddy.
Because I am a woman, I don’t need to roar to be heard to change the world around me.
This morning, the wind roared showing its power and ego throwing the tree
branches about - making noise wanting the attention. The noise sounds scary - the roar is
loud as the tree sways, bends, bounces back up to repeat the same action again.
Roaring doesn’t accomplish much except maybe intimidate or be aggress
the way to create change.
I am woman - hear me roar…
My roar is kindness, gentleness, caring, sharing, a physical touch and love.
Every woman does it every day - nurture.
Women have power, the quiet power that creates change.
The change happens because we love in so many ways from the simple
to extravagant things that we do each day. That quiet roar is as simple
as a hug to being extravagant as donating or raising money for a scholarship.
I am woman - hear me roar……..
I remember being told by a priest that the Catholic church would fold if women
withdrew their services. I believe that as I was one of those women and looked
around me at all the other women, not only in a church but in a community that volunteered. Those women are found in schools, community events, hospitals, fundraisers, at work, social justice, community kitchens, food banks, shelters and so many other areas. The women take on the challenge of spreading love and kindness as well as being role models while sending good vibes into the community.
We are women - hear us roar…..
I had breakfast with my wonderful friend Michelle, who listened,
questioned and encouraged me. I mirrored back to her as she chatted. The roar
was listening, sharing a smile, being gentle, kind, encouraging but most of
all being present. How often do you do this and not even notice?
We are women - hear us roar by being friends
When I lift another person up then I lift myself up as well as lifting the energy.
I believe that this energy spreads within the restaurant.
Good vibes (as my granddaughter calls it) start flowing about the room,
carried out the door, into the kitchen, taken in the car to be passed onto to others.
As we were leaving, we stopped to chat with the waitress. She shared
her struggles dealing with covid regulations that have to be handled
with calmness, patience and a smile.
She is a woman - hear her roar through her kindness
Each woman has the power in the small acts that she does today to create a change.
Each woman’s roar is powerful and quiet.
As I roar to create change in my environment, those acts of kindness
continue on around me, those changes keep spreading farther down the street
to the next street then to the highway, taking an exit into the next town
and the energy of change keeps moving on.
I am woman - hear me roar
We are women - hear our roar
How have you roared?
